This is a question I've wondered many times over, and finally I've found the answer on Monsters and Critics. Turns out he "made so much money off of 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' that he retired. He just doesn't want to work anymore." What? Really? The okay-once-it's-clever-but-three-times-it's- obnoxious, "Honey I Shrunk the Kids," juggernaut was his farewell tour? And now he's too good to lend his voice to a "Ghostbusters" video game? For shame, Rick Moranis, for shame.

this post was way out of left field for me, but having read it, i can appreciate the disappointment of a "lost" "star." tsk tsk, rick moranis.
also, you mustn't forget my favorite rick moranis film, "Little Giants." probably the closest to feminist you get for a pre-teen non-animated film, too, though i never realized it when i was a kid.
Little Giants was a great movie! I had a huge crush on Icebox when I was little!
I think Rick Moranis may have been scared from working with Tom Arnold in the movie, Big Bully to continue with much anything else except voice overs for cartoons.
By far his best performance ever was in Spaceballs. Final.
